Tawnette, of the 4 protagonists of Crooked Wings, has the most healthy relationship with her siblings (if any?) and parents. Disabled by a stroke in her youth, she does not blame her family for it, and they do not blame her. They just want her to be happy. Her family has some distress over her new field of work (Violet Fulgurite work is known to not be particularly safe, even for Technicians like her), especially because they're concerned she has an active death-wish. Her parents are entirely off the mark; while Tawnette does not directly seek death, she views the prospect of dying on the job as a way for her to escape her daily ritual of waking up from her dreams to find herself unable to paint or draw (and if she gets some workman's comp from life insurance? that's an added bonus).

Tawnette is very good at picking up on social offenses. At her best, Tawnette is empathetic and caring. At her worst, she is inclined to respond to failure by flopping over in a very sad puddle.
