Kaiyara
One of the four protagonists of Crooked Wings, along with Zelrik, Veezal, and Tawnette.
Birthday: 3-3-536 in Kichir
Brief timeline:
Age 0-18, finishes primary and secondary education
Age 18-22, tertiary education in sciences and technologies
Age 22-23 attempting to qualify for a foreign university
Age 24, admitted to foreign university
Age 24-25 finishing graduate school in sciences and technologies
Age 25-26 enrolls and completes Violet Fulgurite bootcamp
Age 26, present day, shows up in Cordann. The 'Crooked Wings' story begins.
Kaiyara was the hope of her parents. They worked very hard and were able to get her tutors and access to the very best schools of Kichir (Birb-Philippines; which fared better in colonization than actual Philippines). Somewhere near the finish line, she had a mental breakdown, but she was able to claw herself to a full diploma and a job offer in Cordann.
Kaiyara's parents are overall very pleased with her, but every little way she fails to be a perfect worker is met with chiding and disapproval. Kaiyara is very functional but works through a thick fog of depression. Somewhere, deep down, she resents her family, but she isn't consciously aware of this
Kaiyara has a delicate grace to her, and is comfortable with shades of gray. At her best, she is capable of great feats, especially for the sake of honoring promises she has made. At her worst, her numbness to pain can close her mind to outside experiences.

Zelrik
One of the four protagonists of Crooked Wings, along with Veezal, Kaiyara, and Tawnette.
Birthday: 13-4-533 in V'sher of the Vyerakh Empire
Brief timeline:
Age 0-16, attending secondary education. Independent research into the industrial applications of Violet Fulgurite leaves Zelrik disfigured. He is exiled from his family.
Age 16-29, scrambling to survive without his family's financial and social aid.
Age 29, present day, shows up in Cordann. The 'Crooked Wings' story begins.
Zelrik, out of the 4 protagonists of Birdsong: Crooked Wings, is the only birb who actually wanted the job that they have. However, when he was young, Violet Fulgurite was nowhere near as important as it has become. As a young aristocrat, he was enthralled with the substance, which his family dismissed as unwholesome demon magic. So he had to pursue his dreams on his own, without support. And in his own private laboratories, a mishap resulted in him being physically malformed: his entire right side is blighted, with his leg being misshapen and his eye now dimly lit with a baleful purple hue.
Zelrik's parents view him as a disgrace, and blame him for bringing shame on them. He returns their negative feelings, feeling that if he had always had their support, he wouldn't be as handicapped as he now is
Zelrik is comfortable with interpersonal conflict. At his best, he is a fierce ally to the downtrodden and oppressed. At his worst, he gets caught up in his outrage and bitterness.

2. Personality
Traits: Zelrik is passionate, and witty, but bitter.
Likes and Dislikes: Interests, hobbies, preferences, and aversions.
Fears and Aspirations: Deep-seated fears, ambitions, dreams, and goals.

7. Physical and Mental Health
Health Issues: Ever since his disastrous accident during his adolescence, Zelrik has been physically malformed and walks with a limp. His right eye is now colorblind. These problems, and the social stigma around them, are not as debilitating as the voices he now hears. At varying frequencies and intensities, Zelrik hears entities from beyond the Blight. They whisper advice to him and implore him to call on them for aid.
Coping Mechanisms: How they deal with stress, adversity, and trauma.

Tawnette
One of the four protagonists of Crooked Wings, along with Zelrik, Veezal, and Kaiyara.
Birthday: 20-7-531 in Sobrasha of the Vyerakh Empire
Brief timeline:
Age 0-18, finishes primary and secondary education
Age 18-19, gets admitted to a Sobrashan university of arts for a tertiary education in painting
Age 19 suffers a severe stroke, is sent home
Age 19-24 initial rehabilitation
Age 24-27 tertiary education in sciences
Age 27-29 graduate school for sciences
Age 29-33, works in Violet Fulgurite refinement industry in Vyerakh
Age 33, present day, shows up in Cordann. The 'Crooked Wings' story begins.
Tawnette, of the 4 protagonists of Crooked Wings, has the most healthy relationship with her siblings (if any?) and parents. Disabled by a stroke in her youth, she does not blame her family for it, and they do not blame her. They just want her to be happy. Her family has some distress over her new field of work (Violet Fulgurite work is known to not be particularly safe, even for Technicians like her), especially because they're concerned she has an active death-wish. Her parents are entirely off the mark; while Tawnette does not directly seek death, she views the prospect of dying on the job as a way for her to escape her daily ritual of waking up from her dreams to find herself unable to paint or draw (and if she gets some workman's comp from life insurance? that's an added bonus).
Tawnette is very good at picking up on social offenses. At her best, Tawnette is empathetic and caring. At her worst, she is inclined to respond to failure by flopping over in a very sad puddle.

Veezal
One of the four protagonists of Crooked Wings, along with Zelrik, Kaiyara, and Tawnette.
Birthday: 14-8-534 in Nymska of the Vyerakh Empire
Brief timeline:
Age 0-18, finishes primary and secondary education
Age 18-22, tertiary education in history and literature
Age 22-27 repeated failures at the family business
Age 27, present day, shows up in Cordann. The 'Crooked Wings' story begins.
Veezal has a lot of cousins and his share of siblings. But most of them behave in manners deemed appropriate by the Birb-German nobility he belongs to. Not Veezal. He's always been distractible, moody, and combative.
His family pushes him towards Violet Fulgurite work in the far off lands of Cordann (where the story takes place), telling him that he can win them some money and prestige there in the lucrative industry. The unspoken part is that he can't embarrass them anymore if he emigrates.
Because Veezal was raised with concerns about how as a Princeling that the family's identity and his identity are one and the same, he's shrugged off a good deal of their annoyance (instead of loathing them for failing to tolerate and/or love him)
Veezal is quite rational when it comes to negative outside feedback, and isn't preoccupied with whether others find him special or not. At Veezal's best, he is creative and brilliant. At his worst, he is likely to ignore how his thoughts and actions may hurt himself and others.

Rrajak
A character in Crooked Wings, the team lead that manages Veezal, Kaiyara, Zelrik, and Tawnette.
Birthday: 13-4-528 in New Tirul of Cordann
Brief timeline:
(not written yet)
Rrajak was a very good engineer, but is woefully out of his depth in his new role as a manager. He's doing his best! This is, however, scant comfort to our protagonists.

Brief timeline:

In Crooked Wings, Kechi is a manager at Ultraviolet Industries Inc. The protagonists (when they learn of the working conditions for the company's manual laborers) approach him for help. He earnestly attempts to advance their cause, but is disinterested in operating outside of existing company policy or Cordann's laws. When the LABOR MOVEMENT advances, he finds himself tasked with quelling them. He is a true believer in the Liberal movement, and his ardent nationalism is enforced not by rank tribality. Rather, it comes from a genuine belief in that Cordann is the global vanguard of individual's freedom, and right to personal property. He is wary and distrustful of collective organizations that promote regulations in both the public and private sphere. This means that he responds to his job assignment with great zeal. He has a charming brashness to him, though his self-assured arrogance and eagerness for conflict mean that some find him dislikable.
