FALLING NEST

[Jelvan is merrily preparing to use magic to pour poison into a river]

Terah:Terah: Jelvan. What is this?

Jelvan: Heya! Just some Violet Fulgurite runoff I got from Inventory.

Terah: What are you doing with it?

Jelvan: I had a neat idea! So, I figure I can catalyze the stuff to destabilize it, then dump it in the river. Zyrin said we need to expedite the siege, and I don't see our artillery breaking down the imperial position anytime soon, so, I thought this should help us with that! If my guesstimation is right, it'll spring up all sorts of bad stuff on them after it's decently far downstream.

Terah: Do you know how many civilian casualties this will cause?

Jelvan: A bunch? A lot?

Terah: Their deaths will be on your hands! Our hands!

Jelvan: Whoa there, hold on a minute. They wouldn't be in the position if they had, I dunno. Rebelled harder against the imperials? Anyways, we can honor them as martyrs, I guess.

Terah: This would be a war crime, Jelvan!

Jelvan: Crime?
[the atmosphere darkens, the music's volume dims]
Jelvan: In what court of law would I be tried? The emperor's? That option went out the window when we rebelled against him.

Terah: A crime not against any law of people, but one against God.

Jelvan: God? You say God will judge me? The God who sees the most infirm of Its creations preyed upon first? The same God that sees mother wolves starve the weakest children of their litter?
[the music changes]
Jelvan: Do not speak so casually of God's will, or blasphemy, Terah. I love God with all of my being. I heed the voice of God. I hear It all around me, in the smallest spider that devours its prey, in the greatest fire that consumes the forest. God's voice is beautiful, and from this I know that God smiles on what I do. I tell you the truth, friend: if there's one thing God will forgive, it's a winner.
[the music changes back, the atmosphere lightens]
Jelvan: So on that note, can you help me out? This stuff is really heavy, and my back's gonna be killing me tomorrow morning.

[older version]
<sin against God to lose>

Jelran is heaving around some barrels

what is that?

oh this? It's <poisonous substance>. We've been stymied at this fort for too long, I fugre I better blrughbl

That'll leak all downsream. It won't just weaken the fort, it'll get into civilian thing

Yup!

This is a war crime!

Crime? Against law? We're already rebelling against the emperor, we never had a legal ground to stand on

Laws

...

They don't lack intellect, they don't lack strength. They lack faith. And I have faith, in God. Not the imaginary friend they bleated at us about in the churches, I mean the REAL God. The God that sings every time a snake eats a worm, the one I hear every time I sing with the birdsong. And if there's one thing I know my God loves, it's a winner
...you going to help me carry around this stuff or not? This thing is HEAVY
